International rating agencies assess the creditworthiness of banks according to their own methodologies and criteria. Consequently taking into account the same set of data, rating outcomes vary significantly from one rating agency to another. A large number of rating factors and the complex interrelationships between various entities’ ratings and their different sectors make it very difficult to track rating decisions – and almost impossible to anticipate them.

The objective of the seminar is to guide capital market participants through the different international rating agencies’ methodologies. During the seminar, the participants will grasp the relevant rating factors, and understand how they are interconnected and how they influence each other. This also takes ratings of different sectors into account, such as for example, sovereign ratings or the relationship between bank ratings and regional government ratings.

The seminar explains how rating agencies work in general and derive their rating decisions by guiding the participants through the various bank rating methodologies, using case studies to emphasize the relevant rating factors.
